I Loved Ray Bradbury. And now I get to explain why

Saturday I'll be in Indianapolis at the Madame CJ Walker theater, lecturing on Ray Bradbury.    I am so grateful to be able to do this, and I'll be speaking of ten points of contact I had with him over the years.  Life changing, inspiring…and ultimately heart-breaking.  I'm giving the speech from notes, rather than writing it out, as I KNOW I"ll get choked up, and I want it to be as authentic and raw as possible.

But in the midst I told the organizers that I had to have 90 minutes in privacy with internet access to do FIREDANCE.  Why? Because I PROMISED the students that at least until the end of the year, I would move heaven and earth to be there for them every Saturday. You don't ask people to walk a tightrope without a safety net.

What is true is that the Firedance path is not average, or normal.  Its not the way people tend to operate, and those uncomfortable with your progress will try to knock you from your path. Will be unable to support you. It can be very lonely…

But when you can walk together, the journey is much more fun.  This Saturday it seems appropriate for me to discuss mentoring. Mentors are people who have accomplished things you wish to have in your life, and are willing to share their journey.  I've been TOTALLY BLESSED in my mentors, and will love them forever.

Ray Bradbury was one such, even with only ten points of personal contact.  And I think speaking of it, and how I modeled him to drive my own behaviors and attitudes, was a matter of studying the combination of physical, emotional, and mental strategies that produced his results.  Then of course I had to modify them for my life--there were sufficient differences between me and ANY model I've seen, any human being, that filters had to be applied.

Lets talk modeling!
