I Got Tired of Making Friends…with Flies

Still trying to see and FEEL the implications of expanding the "white belt" curriculum to:

1) Five Minute Miracle (breathing breaks distributed through the day). Stress relief and executive function.

2) The Three Gates. Ethics, morality, and success/survival

3) Escape suffering-->Embrace Joy--> Be of service

 I was so lonely as a child that I literally hallucinated that the flies that landed on my hands in elementary school were my pets.   A nerd, an object of ridicule with impossible dreams, a kid who saw NO ONE like himself acting with courage and power in media for most of his childhood.

I felt broken, alone, despised by the country I loved, and without any idea how to become someone who was "admired by the men he admired, and desired by the women he desired."

But I had two things my Mom gave me:  she loved me, so I believed I was lovable, and worthy of good things. And she introduced me to the concept that there were people who had succeeded, and who taught the secrets of that success, and that they could be learned.

Those two things kept me alive and striving.   If I'd had the 5MM I'd have been able to handle more stress, and therefore manage fear, and move faster.  I'd have developed better instinct and intuition, and know that the chaos in my heart was just human stuff, not something the universe had aimed at me.  And I might have been happy enough with myself not to need to make friends of the flies eating my lunch.

Sigh.   I had such dreams, such hopes, and cried so often that I saw no way to reach them…but somehow managed not to lose the faith that I would.  This is the gift I'm giving Jason.  And the one I want to share with you.
